Our Term 2 Pyjama Day Party
The end of term 2 pyjama day, was another fabulous celebration. The children were tired from their amazing production performances, however it didn't stop them from having a really fun time.
Thank you for sending along the delicious treats!
We have written about how we felt on pyjama day and added it to our artwork, which you can find up on the wall in Room 1.
Sapai and the Yam Snatchers
Sapai and the Yam Snatchers, was in my opinion, a fantastic production! Mrs Edwards really knew how to get the best out of the teachers and the children. I'm very proud of our Room 1 Yams, Crabs and our Siva dancer.

Matariki
We've been learning a lot about Matariki. Room 1 confidently shared their ideas during the whole assembly on Friday 9th June. We also performed the Waiata Korero, Parirau - wow, what a show!
We've created beautiful Matariki stars artwork and included shiny stars in our poetry books.
We have more fun Matariki activities coming up next week.

Pyjama Fun and Anzac Day
On the last day of Term 1, Room 1 had a pyjama day with a shared lunch to acknowledge everyone's hard work during the term. We all had so much fun and felt very comfortable all day long. Thank you to everyone for providing such an array of food!
We also talked about Anzac Day, which was during the school holidays. We shared what we each knew about the world wars. The discussion turned to how much we hope nothing like that ever happens again.
We also learnt why Poppies are used in remembrance, especially on Anzac Day. We also made our own, beautiful Poppies, carefully painting them on rocks.

Recycling
In Room 1 our inquiry has been around composting and recycling. We are learning ways that we can help the Earth. We also learnt how to make some new toys - we used old eggs cartons and made spiders and bats!

Piwakawaka Swimming - Tuesday 14th March
On Tuesday 14th March, the Piwakawaka children were able to show just some of what they have been doing during swimming this term.
Thank you to all the parents and whanau that were able to come along and support our swimmers.
The weather played ball, letting the sun show through and the children all tried their best.

Life Education
The Life Education team came along to visit our school, with Harold the Giraffe! We learnt about what respect means and how to be a good, caring friend.
We watched videos, which told us how to be safe when riding our bikes. We also got to relax and watch the sparkly stars up on the caravan ceiling!

Buddy Class
Every Friday, Room 7 will come and visit Room 1. They will listen to us read, read to us, test our spelling (the spelling programme hasn't started just yet) and much more.
Last week Room 7 brought along survey questions so they could get to know the Room 1 children much better.
